Why We Give

We Give because God Lovingly Gave First

By generously giving to what FBJ is doing in our community, state, nation, and world, our church family is choosing to utilize what God has given us to share the good news of Jesus by serving other people in a great variety of ways.  We believe that Jesus modeled that loving and giving are directly linked together.  Our hope is that we all see our giving as an investment in what God is doing throughout our world.

Giving to our Budget

As a church, our church’s budget is much more diverse than money for church land, building development project, church rentals, gospel musical equipment, pastorium development, light bulbs, utilities, building maintenance, salaries, and landscaping.  In our budget, you will find money set aside for ministering to those who come to our church compound, planting new churches both locally and nationally, partnering with already-established ministries in the Nigeria Baptist Convention, helping people with their tangible needs along with getting victory of the addictions that are controlling their lives, volunteering serves in our community, providing relief materials to the needy, helping the elderly in our society, and partnering in our local schools and other local community organizations.  When you give to our budget, you are investing in impacting many different lives in ways that will last forever.

BEYOND OUR BUDGET

Throughout the year you will hear that we are inviting people to give “beyond their tithe.”  What does that mean?  “Beyond the tithe” is anything we give beyond 10% of our income. In Malachi 3:10, God says “Go ahead. I dare you. See if you can out give me.” Beyond the tithe is a chance for us to be extravagantly generous in our giving.  You can give additional gifts to specific fundraising efforts like our Special Project Offering’s Fund, church land and building projects, Sending Relief efforts to help those who have suffered loss due to a natural disaster (floods, droughts, storms, and epidemics), and scholarships for our kids and students who cannot afford to pay the full price for camps and mission trips.

Recently Funded Projects

Nigeria have been dominated by severe flooding, particularly in 2024 and 2025, which caused widespread displacement and loss of life across multiple states SRBC, Abuja is planning to rise up to the situation through our Upcoming planned Projects Funding.

Through various initiatives, including emergency relief like food and cash, as well as long-term support for recovery SRBC, Abuja plan to give generously. We will help to setup tent cities and provide the needed food, water, and blankets to assist these people who have lost all of their possessions.

YOUR GENEROSITY IN ACTION

Within the last few months and years, we have seen recent natural disasters in the Abuja area have primarily been devastating floods that occurred in 2022, 2023 and 2024, affecting thousands of people and damaging homes and infrastructure, particularly in areas like Lugbe and Lokogoma. These floods are linked to factors including climate change, unregulated construction, and poor drainage systems. While flooding is the most prominent disaster, other incidents like building collapses and market fires have also impacted the city, with the FCT Emergency Management Department responding to these situations.  We are sending teams and infrastructure to assist those who are coping with the losses that accompany damage created by the flood and storms that hit those areas.  We have heard amazing stories of survival, assisted people in accumulating whatever possessions they could find, and shared the gospel with many offering hope that last forever.  All of these efforts will be made possible by our church’s financial generosity.
